Jon started road racing after a very successful year in Solo II season in 1997. He kicked it off on a good note with a win in his first competition in Formula Ford. Since then Jon has gone on to drive touring cars, formula cars, and prototypes. Jon continues to do all kinds of road racing.
Jon started driving SCCA Autocross events in 1995 to ease the transition from Karts to full size cars. Autocrossing is an event where one car at a time runs a course marked with pylons. Speeds do not generally go over 70 mph, and times are compared for competition results. Jon has run close to 150 events in 12 states with 16 clubs and has had lots of success, and continues to run autocross events for seat time fun and exposure.
From 1993 to 1996 Jon raced in the World Karting Association. Jon raced in four cycle "stock" class. These karts were
about 11 horsepower and ran on alcohol. Racing karts pull over 3.5 times the force of gravity when cornering. The top speeds in Jon's class were just over 80mph.
In addition to competition driving, Jon takes the time to do test days and Ride and Drives whenever possible. He has competed in high speed track events such as One Lap of America. Along with instructing private students,he owns and operates SeatTime Performance Driving Days, which is an opportunity for people to drive their street cars at speed on a track.
