One Lap of America is one of those wonderful motorsports events where it isn’t just about racing or all-out speed, but the twists and turns of the event and the competitors make it enjoyable to compete in and watch.
Of course, usually those twists and turns are supposed to be during the event, and not before the event. This year for me it has been the pre-event twists and turns that have been as much a part of the event as the event itself in years past.
AMS had decided nto to take their Evo back to One Lap in 07 as it became too unstreetable for a One Lap effort. I went looking for another ride, and started the year looking like I was going to drive a Noble for 1G racing, but 1G decided to do some different stuff and not run this year.

Then, I talked to a couple teams that would have needed sponsorship that I didn’t have, so that wouldn’t work. Steven Rankins and
Boxer 4 Racing were going with Continental Sponsorship and that was an option and I came very close to doing the event in a V8-powered Miata when the phone rang.

Mongoose Motorsports, a Corvette Grand Sport replica manufacturer was looking to enter their new car – a Corvette GTP replica powered by a 505-hp Chevy LS7 engine. The car wasn’t finished, so I spent a few days in Ohio trying to help get it ready.
What you are going to see as this update, is my One Lap event, from sticker day on.
